Instagram has introduced a new feature allowing users to compile a collage of their memorable moments shared throughout the year. According to reports, this feature will be accessible within the Instagram story interface as soon as a user selects and resizes an image. The social media platform, which is owned by Meta Platforms, is also releasing additional year-end themed templates for its Add Yours feature found in stories.
Instagram Unveils 2024 Collage Feature
The newly launched collage feature on Instagram (via TechRadar) will be available until the first week of January. Users can select multiple images and arrange them freely on their screens, choosing from a variety of New Year-themed fonts. Options include catchy phrases like “How 2024 Started,” “How 2024 Ended,” and “HNY.” Once users complete their collages, they can easily share these creations on their Instagram stories with their followers.
Additionally, the platform is rolling out year-end themed templates for the Add Yours feature, facilitating others to contribute their own collages in response. New Year and Countdown text effects will also be introduced, along with festive themes for direct messages (DMs) and secret phrases like “Happy New Year” and “Hello 2025,” which activate unique visual effects in DMs and Notes.
This latest feature is part of a series of updates Instagram has been implementing in recent months. Just last week, the platform unveiled a feature named Trial Reels, designed to assist creators in experimenting with content. This allows creators to share trial reels exclusively with non-followers, enabling them to assess engagement metrics such as views, likes, comments, and shares after the reels have been active for 24 hours.
Another recent update enhances interaction capabilities for creators, providing more opportunities for engagement than simple likes or reactions. Users can now respond to messages from creators as well as each other, supported by timed prompts and daily check-ins aimed at fostering more meaningful engagement. These updates have been specifically designed for Instagram’s broadcast channels.
