Instagram has introduced an updated feature to its platform that allows users to add multiple links in their profile bios, a change many had been advocating for. Previously, users were limited to a single link, but now they can incorporate up to five links to better highlight their work and online presence. This enhancement is expected to assist not just general users but also content creators in promoting their various online businesses and connecting with their audience on multiple platforms. The rollout of this feature is happening globally and aims to reach more than a billion users shortly.
The prior limitation of one link often pushed users towards third-party solutions, like “link in bio” sites, to gather multiple links into one. Instagram’s new update will allow users to include other links directly, such as those from Linktree, Beacons, and Discord, expanding their ability to share diverse content.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, shared the news of this update through his Broadcast Channel, emphasizing that the capability to include multiple links was one of the platform’s most highly requested functionalities.
To utilize this new feature, users can select the Add External Link option found in the Links section of the Edit Profile menu. According to reports, the update is expected to be fully accessible to all Instagram users by the end of this month, with some users already confirming that it has been activated on their iOS and Android accounts.
In related news, the announcement coincides with reports that Meta is preparing for a series of layoffs as part of a company restructuring initiative. Managers have been alerted to brace for job cuts in the near future. Despite these changes, Meta is actively continuing to enhance its offerings across Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram.
Earlier this year, Instagram launched a new Reminder Ads feature aimed at incorporating advertisements into its search results. Additionally, Meta is also said to be developing a feature that would enable users to send animated emojis in a future version of its messaging application.
