Instagram is implementing a significant update aimed at enhancing the sharing experience for users, particularly when it comes to posting multiple photos and videos. The platform has increased the limit for carousel uploads from 10 to 20, allowing users to showcase more content in a single post. This update is particularly useful for those looking to share their “end-of-summer” photo collections. The change also builds on the recent launch of Meta AI Studio, an AI avatar creation tool introduced to U.S. users last month.

In a recent announcement, Instagram revealed that users can now upload as many as 20 photos or videos in each carousel. This extension offers a more convenient way for users to share collections of media without the hassle of dividing them into separate posts. Viewers can browse through the carousel by swiping to the right on the platform.

The carousel feature made its debut in 2015, originally allowing for just five images. It was expanded in 2017 to include videos and later raised the upload limit to 10. Earlier this year, reports indicated that Instagram was testing a version of this feature that enabled a select group of users to include up to 15 images or videos in their carousels, with plans to roll it out to a broader audience progressively.

Despite Instagram’s claim that the feature is now live, staff members from Gadgets 360 were unable to confirm its availability across various smartphones.

Recently Added Features

In its ongoing effort to enhance user experience, especially for content creators, Instagram has introduced several new features and improvements in recent months. Last month, the platform unveiled a multi-track support system for Instagram Reels, allowing users to include up to 20 audio tracks in a single reel.

The launch of Meta AI Studio, meanwhile, offers users the ability to create AI characters complete with names, taglines, and descriptions. These character details serve as the foundation for creating mini chatbots. Additionally, content creators can now develop AI avatars of themselves that are capable of responding to direct messages and story replies, further connecting them with their audience.
