Ninja Theory has announced that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will be available on PlayStation 5 this summer, marking a significant development for the action-adventure game that debuted on Xbox and PC last year. The sequel to the critically acclaimed 2017 title, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, will arrive in an “enhanced” format featuring new functionalities.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 Set for PS5 Release

The studio made the announcement on the first anniversary of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, which launched on Xbox Series S/X and PC last year.

“A year ago today, we released the next chapter of Senua’s story, and we understand that many haven’t yet had the chance to experience it themselves. Today, we are thrilled to confirm that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will be debuting on PlayStation 5 this summer,” stated Ninja Theory in an update on the official Hellblade 2 website.

The PS5 version will be optimized for both PS5 and PS5 Pro, along with the introduction of new features that will be announced in due course. These additional features will also be made available for Xbox Series S/X and PC users through a free update.

While a specific release date for the PS5 version has not yet been disclosed, Ninja Theory has confirmed that it is set to release this summer. Players can now add Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 to their wishlist on the PlayStation Store.

Earlier in February, Windows Central’s Jez Corden suggested that the game was likely to launch on PS5 soon, implying it was a matter of timing and not uncertainty.

This year, Microsoft has reinforced its multiplatform approach, with a mix of both new and previously released first-party titles making their way to PlayStation’s platform. Forza Horizon 5, an acclaimed open-world racing game launched in 2021 for Xbox and PC, became available on PS5 in April. In addition, strategy games such as Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition also made their way to the PS5 in 2025, several years after their initial launches. Furthermore, Bethesda’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle arrived on PS5 four months post its debut on Xbox and PC.

Some first-party games have been rolled out simultaneously on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series S/X. In April, Bethesda unexpectedly released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered across all three platforms. Just last week, Doom: The Dark Ages also became available on PS5 alongside its launch on PC and Xbox Series S/X.

Microsoft recently also unveiled Gears of War: Reloaded, a remaster of the original Gears of War, which is scheduled to release for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X on August 26.

The company’s multiplatform strategy appears to be yielding positive outcomes, with Xbox titles ranking as the top three best-sellers on the PlayStation Store in both the US/Canada and EU regions during April. Notable top-sellers included The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5, and Minecraft.
