The Grok chatbot can now be accessed directly in the top-level replies on X (previously Twitter), allowing users to interact with the AI in new ways. When tagged in a reply, Grok demonstrates a contextual understanding of the conversation, enabling it to respond effectively to even ambiguously phrased questions. Additionally, it is capable of interpreting images and videos, addressing inquiries related to multimedia content in posts. Meanwhile, Perplexity is introducing a similar feature for users on X.
Grok Can Be Summoned in Replies on X
Recently, the platform owned by Elon Musk has integrated the Grok feature in various areas throughout its interface. Users can find a Grok button available in the post creation area, in the sidebar on the website, in the bottom menu of the app, as an explanatory tool beside each post, next to every profile, and prominently located in the lower right corner of the website view.
Nonetheless, developers have taken it a step further; Grok can now also be summoned independently in post replies. Users can include “@grok” followed by their question about the post, prompting the AI chatbot to generate a response in nearly real-time. Observers from Gadgets 360 noted that users have been tagging Grok in both text and multimedia posts.
Once tagged, Grok instantly comprehends the context of the original post, allowing users to ask vague inquiries like “explain this” without losing relevance. Furthermore, Grok is equipped with web-searching capabilities, enabling it to provide real-time information when necessary. It’s important to note that tagging Grok works exclusively in top-level comments; invoking it in replies to other comments does not yield a response.
Perplexity has also rolled out its own AI chatbot. Aravind Srinivas, the company’s CEO, shared on X that users can tag @AskPerplexity in their replies, prompting the chatbot to engage similarly with their queries. However, it is worth mentioning that users cannot ask follow-up questions with either AI bot.
