Detailed information about OpenAI’s forthcoming artificial intelligence model, GPT-5, has surfaced prior to its official announcement. A GitHub blog post, which has since been removed, inadvertently revealed specifics about several variants of the model. Included in the leaked information are four configurations of GPT-5: the main base model, GPT-5 Mini, GPT-5 Nano, and a new enterprise-focused version known as GPT-5 Chat. Additionally, a GPT-5 Pro variant is set to be available for Pro subscribers, alongside a redesigned interface for ChatGPT.

GPT-5 Expected to Be Accessible on Free Tier

TestingCatalog discovered the now-deleted blog post on GitHub, which contained various details about the impending GPT-5 models. Although the post has been taken down, users managed to capture and disseminate screenshots on social media platforms. This suggests that OpenAI intends to introduce four distinct versions of its advanced AI model.

The primary version of the GPT-5 model is expected to be complemented by Mini and Nano variants. While specifics about these versions remain limited, it is speculated that the Mini will provide quicker response times, whereas Nano may cater to edge computing and localized applications.

Furthermore, references to GPT-5 Thinking and GPT-5 Chat have also emerged. Details on the former are still unclear, but it could potentially serve as an API, enabling developers to customize the model’s operational parameters.

According to details from the now-removed GitHub post, GPT-5 Chat is intended for use with GitHub Copilot, boasting enhanced contextual understanding during interactions. The full description states it is “designed for advanced, natural, multimodal, and context-aware conversations for enterprise applications,” as reported by Technology News.

Reports indicate that the rollout of the GPT-5 model will be available for all users, albeit with different access levels. Those on ChatGPT’s free tier will reportedly have basic access, while Plus subscribers will receive GPT-5 with additional “advanced reasoning” capabilities and greater limits.

Pro subscribers are anticipated to gain access to the GPT-5 Pro variant along with enhanced usage limits, while ChatGPT Team subscribers will reportedly have access to both the reasoning feature of GPT-5 and the Pro version.

An additional leak shared by user @scaling01 on X (formerly Twitter) suggests that GPT-5 Pro may feature “research-grade intelligence.” This description was found within ChatGPT’s code, though the practical applications of this functionality remain to be seen.

Further claims from TestingCatalog indicate that the introduction of GPT-5 will bring about a redesigned ChatGPT interface, featuring a more streamlined prompt area, a merged action button for different commands, and updates to the color scheme.

OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, recently announced a livestream scheduled for Thursday at 10 am PDT (10:30 pm IST). Although Altman did not disclose specific announcements for the session, he mentioned it would last an hour, suggesting possible details regarding the anticipated launch of GPT-5.
