On Thursday, Google unveiled a new artificial intelligence (AI) application named Doppl, designed to enable users to virtually try on a variety of clothing items. Initially envisioned as a feature within the AI Mode in Search, this innovative app has the potential to evolve into a standalone product, according to the tech giant based in Mountain View.
Doppl Is Currently Only Available in the US
In a recent blog announcement, Google detailed the launch of Doppl. During Google I/O 2025, the company introduced various new AI capabilities for its Shopping platform, deepening its integration with Search. A standout feature of these updates was the virtual try-on capabilities, allowing consumers to visualize themselves in different outfits through AI technology.
Doppl aims to assist users in visualizing how specific garments might look on them before making a purchase. This innovation addresses the common uncertainty shoppers face about how an item will appear when worn, departing from the typical model representation.
This isn’t Google’s first venture into virtual fitting technology. Last year, the company introduced an AI feature that showcased clothing on diverse real-life models, providing users with a better sense of how items appear on similar body types.
With Doppl, personalization is taken a step further, as users can upload a full-length image of themselves alongside the clothing they are interested in trying on. According to Google, the app leverages a specialized fashion-driven image generation model that comprehensively understands body dynamics, including how garments fold, stretch, and drape on various physiques.
An appealing feature of Doppl is its expansive usability; users are not restricted to clothing found on online retail sites. They can upload images of outfits from friends, local store finds, or even items spotted on social media.
At present, Doppl is exclusively available on iOS and Android platforms within the United States. Google has yet to disclose any plans for launching the app in additional markets.
