On Sunday, Google unveiled a suite of artificial intelligence (AI) search and automation tools tailored for the retail sector during the National Retail Federation’s (NRF) 2025 event. The announcements highlighted the company’s new Agentspace platform, designed to help businesses create custom AI agents for various automation tasks. In addition, enhancements to the Vertex AI platform’s Search for commerce tool were also introduced, which allows for Google-like search functionalities to be integrated into any website.
The technology firm emphasized that the rapid evolution of AI technologies can assist businesses in overcoming challenges related to supply chain issues and the increasing expenses associated with managing diverse enterprise applications. With the launch of the Agentspace platform and the upgraded Vertex AI Search for commerce tool, Google aims to address these challenges.
The Agentspace platform functions as a tool for businesses to develop AI agents, which are specialized software systems capable of performing tasks autonomously by utilizing skills such as reasoning, planning, and memory.
Companies can leverage AI agents constructed through Agentspace to enhance customer interactions. According to Google, these agents can provide product recommendations, respond to inquiries, and facilitate buyers throughout their shopping journeys.
Furthermore, Agentspace can be utilized to create AI agents for internal applications within organizations. Currently, the platform supports the development of agents for tasks like inventory management, customer service, and integration with third-party applications such as Slack, GitHub, Drive, and Outlook.
Google Cloud also presented updates to its Search for commerce tool, which is accessible through the Vertex AI platform. This tool enables businesses to establish an internal search functionality for their websites, assisting customers in navigating various pages and efficiently locating products.
Recent enhancements include support for advanced AI models that can refine product discovery across platforms. Additionally, the Connected Stores feature allows for connectivity between users’ devices and in-store systems, thereby enhancing the omnichannel shopping experience. Customers can use the tool to explore a physical store’s catalogue, complete purchases at checkout, and obtain information about available inventory.
As these offerings are aimed at enterprise clients, Google has not disclosed pricing information. Businesses interested in these solutions are encouraged to reach out to Google Cloud to discuss their specific enterprise needs and obtain a quotation.
