Under the Battery Performance Programme, Pixel 6a owners can receive a complimentary battery replacement without incurring any additional service charges. For those who prefer alternative support options, Google offers trade-in possibilities that may result in either cash compensation or store credit, allowing users to choose the option that suits them best.
Google offers repair and trade-in options for impacted Pixel 6a devices
For affected Pixel 6a users, Google is providing a cash offer of $100 (approximately Rs. 8,500) or the equivalent amount in local currency. Alternatively, users can opt for a discount code valued at $150 (about Rs. 12,800) which can be applied toward the purchase of a new Pixel device.
It is important to note that the final cash amount will depend on the current daily exchange rate, with local availability for cash payments potentially varying as well.
The company plans to utilize a third-party payment platform, Payoneer, for processing these payments. As per financial regulations, this may necessitate the collection of personal information such as a Social Security Number in the US or comparable identification in other countries.
To assist users in determining their eligibility for the programme, Google has set up a dedicated webpage for Pixel 6a owners. Users need to input their email address linked to the device along with its IMEI number. There is also an option to enter a different email address for those assisting friends or family members, although the company may require additional information in such cases.
