Google is in the process of developing a new feature for its Gemini Live platform aimed at enhancing the way users track their interactions with the chatbot. The upcoming addition is a conversation summaries button designed to convert spoken dialogues into comprehensive summary reports presented in a paragraph format accompanied by bullet points. This functionality is expected to activate once a conversation concludes, though its final implementation may change before its public launch.

Introduction of Conversation Summaries in Gemini Live

According to a report from Android Authority, the tech powerhouse in Mountain View is innovating the Gemini Live interface with the conversation summaries feature. Evidence of its development was revealed through an analysis of the Android application package (APK) from the beta version 16.6.23 of the Google app. Currently, the feature is not active, meaning beta testers will need to wait before testing it out.

Screenshots shared by Android Authority indicate that this new feature will appear as a small icon in the bottom-left corner of the Gemini app after a conversation wraps up. At present, this icon displays a brief prompt that users can share with Gemini by tapping on it.

The prompt sent by this button instructs Gemini to function as a “highly skilled conversational AI assistant specializing in generating summaries.” It includes specific requests for the summary, such as “generate a brief, paragraph-style summary,” “create a non-generic title,” and an emphasis on excluding unnecessary details. Upon receiving this prompt, Gemini is expected to produce a detailed summary of the entire dialogue.

The screenshots suggest that the feature is in its early stages and is likely to undergo further development before its release. Android Authority speculated that Google might choose to automate the summarization process, allowing summaries to be generated automatically after each conversation, or incorporate a dedicated button within the Gemini Live interface for users to initiate this function. In either scenario, it seems probable that the initial prompt will not be visible to users, transitioning it into a backend process.
