Google has announced an increase in the query limit for its Gemini 2.5 Pro artificial intelligence (AI) model. A company executive shared on Wednesday that subscribers to the paid tier will now be able to send up to 100 queries per day, an increase from the previous limit of 50. This adjustment is specifically for Google AI Pro subscribers, as those in the AI Ultra tier already benefit from a higher query allowance. The tech giant previously indicated at Google I/O that Pro subscribers would receive “expanded access” to the AI model.
Google Reveals Gemini 2.5 Pro’s Rate Limit for Pro Users
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Josh Woodward, Vice President of Google Labs and Gemini, confirmed the new query limit for Pro subscribers. He emphasized that users will now have the opportunity to submit 100 queries or messages daily through the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, doubling the previous limit.
This announcement marks the first time Google has explicitly detailed the rate limits for its paid subscribers. Typically, the Mountain View-based company has referred to its rate limits using ambiguous phrases such as “limited access” or “highest access.” The decision to increase the limit comes shortly after the company pledged at its I/O event to enhance usage capabilities for the Gemini 2.5 Pro model among its paying users.
According to a report from 9to5Google, there were indications earlier this week that the rate limit may have been reduced temporarily. Some frequent users of the model reported reaching exhaustion points, though these claims lack verification.
During the Google I/O event, the company rebranded its Gemini Advanced subscription into two new plans: Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra. The AI Pro subscription remains at a price of Rs. 1,950 per month, the same as the previous Advanced tier. In contrast, the AI Ultra subscription, which is presently available only in the US, is priced at $249.99 (approximately Rs. 21,500) per month, significantly higher than the Pro plan.
If users subscribed to the Pro plan hit the new query limit, they can either wait for the limit to reset after 24 hours, upgrade to the AI Ultra plan if accessible, or switch to Gemini 2.5 Flash, which is designed for less complex queries.
