Microsoft has scheduled an Xbox Games Showcase for its first-party games set for June, accompanied by a dedicated Direct event focusing on an unspecified title. The showcase will kick off with a livestream on June 9 at 10am PT (10:30am IST) across Xbox’s YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook platforms. This event will highlight a selection of upcoming games from Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda, and Xbox Game Studios, in addition to third-party titles available on Xbox.
Following the Xbox Games Showcase, a Direct event will provide a “deep-dive into the next installment of a beloved franchise.” While specific details about this event remain under wraps, a report from Technology News, based on information from sources close to Microsoft, suggests that the focus will be on the next chapter of the Call of Duty series. The popular first-person shooter is now part of Microsoft’s lineup following the acquisition of its developer, Activision-Blizzard, last year.
Furthermore, the report indicates that some anticipated titles may be announced or receive updates during the Xbox Showcase. Microsoft is reportedly set to unveil a new Gears of War game, which fans have been eagerly anticipating since Gears 5 was released in 2019. Rumors of Gears of War 6 have circulated for some time.
The showcase is expected to provide release date information for previously announced games like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Additionally, it is anticipated that launch details for the Shattered Space expansion for Starfield will be revealed, with the expansion aiming for a September release and the next Call of Duty title slated for an October launch. Avowed and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 could potentially launch in November, while Bethesda’s Indiana Jones might target a December release during the holiday season.
Although Microsoft has yet to disclose further specifics, the showcase is anticipated to shed light on its forthcoming first-party titles. It is also expected to highlight Xbox’s gaming roadmap for 2025. According to Technology News, this year’s event is poised to showcase more games than last year’s presentation.
