While it may seem like only yesterday that July’s Prime Day concluded, Amazon is preparing for its annual fall sale event: Prime Big Deal Days. The sale is set to begin on Tuesday, October 7th, at 3 AM ET, and will run until October 9th at the same time. This event serves as an opportunity for shoppers to get a head start on holiday shopping, resembling a prelude to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

This sale is exclusively available to Amazon Prime members. Those interested in the deals but not yet subscribed to Prime will find signing up an easy process.

In addition to Prime Day discounts, Amazon offers several additional features to attract potential subscribers. These benefits include access to Prime Video—now with ads, though an ad-free version is available at an extra cost—faster shipping options including two-day and sometimes same-day delivery for a wide range of items, discounts on select Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods products, and ad-free streaming through Amazon Music. Furthermore, Prime members enjoy services like Prime Gaming, which offers free subscriptions to Twitch channels and a selection of free games, as well as unlimited photo storage and 5GB of video storage, alongside Prime Reading that provides access to a rotating selection of comics, books, and magazines.

Members can share their Prime account with one other adult, and up to four teenagers and children. Shared benefits include fast shipping, streaming access, and early access to lightning deals, although certain features like Music Prime cannot be shared with others. Additionally, a 30-day free trial is available for new users, allowing them to explore the perks of the subscription, including the Prime Day offers. Starting October 1st, however, Prime members will be limited in sharing shipping benefits with individuals living at different addresses.

Choose a plan

  • Visit https://www.amazon.com/amazonprime and locate the section labeled Choose your plan. You may click on the button for the Start your free 30-day trial if you wish, but it’s worth reviewing your options first.
  • Select the plan that best suits you. The basic plan is $14.99 a month or $139 a year, which averages to over $12 per month.
  • Prime for Young Adults offers a six-month free trial for those aged 18 to 24 or currently enrolled in school, followed by a charge of $7.49 monthly or $69 annually.
  • Individuals on government assistance programs, like SNAP or Medicaid, can access Prime Access for $6.99 per month with a 30-day free trial.
  • If you have a birthday approaching, a close friend or relative can gift you a Prime membership using Amazon gift cards.

Create an account

  • Once you have selected your desired plan, you will need an Amazon account. If you do not already have one, click on Start your free 30-day trial followed by Create your Amazon account, where you will input your name, email, and password. Setting up two-factor authentication is advisable for added security.
  • On the following page, Amazon will send a one-time password (OTP) to your email for verification. Enter the OTP when prompted to confirm your account.
  • After verification, you will need to provide your credit or debit card details.
  • And that’s it!

It’s important to note that while you can sign up for Prime to take advantage of the free 30-day trial and benefit from the Prime Day discounts, this offer is available only once. Subsequent Prime Day events will not be accompanied by another free trial.
