Halo Studios has announced plans to unveil new information about its ongoing Halo projects during the upcoming Halo World Championship (HWC) set to take place in October. Last year, the studio revealed its work on several Halo titles utilizing Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5. At that time, the company, which has transitioned from 343 Industries to Halo Studios, showcased preliminary Unreal Engine 5 visuals that highlighted both environments and characters from the franchise.

Insights on Upcoming Halo Titles

In a recent blog post released Monday in anticipation of HWC 2025, Halo Studios addressed ongoing rumors and speculation regarding its current development projects. The studio affirmed its commitment to “continue the conversation” about these initiatives first hinted at during last year’s event.

“At HaloWC last year, we premiered ‘A New Dawn,’ sharing insights into our shift to Unreal Engine and providing a behind-the-scenes look at Project Foundry, marking our evolution into Halo Studios,” the developer noted in the post.

“We see ‘A New Dawn’ as merely a starting point. At this year’s HaloWC, we eagerly await the opportunity to further discuss our projects,” they added. “While speculation can be enjoyable, attending this year’s Halo World Championship is the best way to receive official details about Halo Studios’ current work. We invite everyone to join us in Seattle this October!”

The Halo World Championship is scheduled for October 24-26 in Seattle, featuring the top 16 teams vying for championship honors and a share of a $1 million prize pool.

Ongoing Development of Multiple Halo Titles

During last year’s HWC, Halo Studios confirmed its development of several Halo games leveraging Unreal Engine 5 technology. The studio showcased new footage from the engine, featuring three distinct environments along with series protagonist Master Chief. This footage was clarified as not being linked to a specific Halo game currently in the works but rather part of a “Foundry” project intended to lay the groundwork for future Halo titles. Currently, there is no public timeline for the release of these games.

At the most recent Xbox Games Showcase, Xbox head Phil Spencer hinted at the “return of a classic” scheduled for next year, suggesting that a remaster or remake of Halo: Combat Evolved may be on the horizon. He refrained from specifying the title but did mention that the game would launch in conjunction with Xbox’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

“As we look to introduce a new generation to these iconic franchises, it’s thrilling to announce that players can expect to celebrate 25 years of Xbox with a new Fable, the next installment of Forza, Gears of War: E-Day, and the return of a classic that has been integral to our journey since the beginning,” Spencer stated during the showcase.

In addition to a potential remaster or remake of the original title, it is expected that Halo Studios is also actively working on the next mainline entry in the Halo series. The last installment, Halo Infinite, was released for PC and Xbox Series S/X in 2021.
