On Tuesday, ElevenLabs unveiled a new mobile application compatible with both Android and iOS platforms. This marks the company’s second app release, following the ElevenReader, which utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to transform ebooks into audiobooks. The latest app expands ElevenLabs’ AI-driven text-to-speech technology to mobile devices, featuring an extensive array of voices powered by its proprietary AI models, including the alpha version of the Eleven v3 model. The app is accessible to both free-tier users and paid subscribers.
New ElevenLabs Mobile App Enables AI Voiceover Creation
The New York-based AI company announced the app’s launch in a recent blog post, outlining its diverse features. Users can generate highly realistic, human-like AI voices for any script, with options available in various languages and tailored for different applications.
After testing the app, Gadgets 360 reported that it includes 19 default voice options, with the ability to add more according to user needs. The app offers a range of male, female, and neutral voices, which can mimic various ages, including young, middle-aged, or elderly characters. Additionally, users can select voices suited for advertisements, animation voiceovers, conversational settings, television anchoring, educational material, storytelling, and social media engagement.
According to user experience, the process of generating voiceovers is intuitive. The homepage features a text box alongside a voice selection option. Once a voice is chosen, users can either type or paste their text and click to generate the audio. The resulting audio clip is produced in mere seconds and is described as sounding quite natural.
Before the mobile version, ElevenLabs’ voice generation feature was exclusively available through its website or web app. The company’s decision to create a mobile app was largely driven by user feedback seeking a more efficient and accessible experience tailored to mobile usage.
Currently, users on the free plan can convert up to 10,000 characters into speech each month, while paid subscribers can utilize their ElevenLabs credits for the same purpose. The app operates on the Eleven v3 model, the company’s most advanced speech generation technology. It seamlessly synchronizes with the user’s web account, allowing access to existing projects within the app interface.
