Electronic Arts has officially announced its upcoming Star Wars game, following a series of leaks. Titled Star Wars Zero Company, this single-player turn-based tactics game is in development by Bit Reactor in partnership with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. While EA has yet to disclose specific details about the game, it plans to unveil the first look during the Star Wars Celebration event in Japan on April 19.
Announcement of Star Wars Zero Company
Star Wars Zero Company was officially confirmed by EA and the Star Wars website on Monday, shortly after screenshots of the game were leaked online. Before the full reveal, the company has released key art showcasing a team of operatives from the Star Wars universe.
“Recruit an unconventional team of operatives and deploy them on missions unlike any other in the galaxy far, far away in Star Wars Zero Company!” stated an update on the Star Wars website.
This new single-player turn-based tactics game, developed jointly by Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games, will present its initial details to attendees at the Star Wars Celebration in Japan.
EA confirmed that the game is being developed for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X. The first look is set to be revealed at a panel during Star Wars Celebration Japan on April 19 at 4:30 PM JST (1 PM IST).
Currently, Respawn and Bit Reactor are expanding their teams for the Star Wars Zero Company project, with various open positions available on their respective websites. Notably, the strategy game will be directed by Greg Foertsch, known for his role as art director on acclaimed titles like XCOM 2 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and is being developed using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5.
“Respawn is collaborating with independent studio Bit Reactor and Lucasfilm Games to create a brand-new AAA Star Wars strategy game led by Game Director Greg Foertsch. Utilizing the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5, the Bit Reactor team is looking to recruit passionate, collaborative, and experienced individuals to join their rapidly growing team,” reads the job listing on Respawn’s site.
Bit Reactor is in search of candidates for positions such as Senior Mission Designer, Senior Graphics Engineer, and Senior Cinematic Producer for this game.
Respawn is well-known for its Star Wars Jedi series, which features third-person action-adventure gameplay. The studio is currently developing the final installment in the series, following the release of 2023’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
In the previous year, EA confirmed that Respawn was working on the “final chapter” of Jedi Knight Cal Kestis’ journey.
