Sony has unveiled the lineup of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers in December, led by the acclaimed co-op adventure game, It Takes Two. This title requires players to navigate challenges as they take on the roles of an estranged couple who find themselves transformed into miniature figures, reminiscent of the “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” narrative. Joining It Takes Two are the tactical shooter Aliens: Dark Descent and the creature-collection game Temtem, both set to be available to all PS Plus members across Essential, Extra, and Deluxe/Premium tiers starting December 3.

The announcement was made on the PlayStation Blog on Wednesday, with the titles accessible to members until January 6. Subscribers can add these games to their libraries, maintaining access beyond the cut-off date as long as their subscription remains active.

Currently, the PS Plus monthly offerings for November are still available, with only a few days left for players to add titles like Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 – Turbocharged, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Death Note: Killer Within to their collections until December 2. Below is a closer examination of the games arriving for December:

It Takes Two

This award-winning title, which took home the Game of the Year honor at The Game Awards 2021, is designed exclusively for two players, allowing gameplay through online or local split-screen modes. Developed by Josef Fares’ Hazelight Studios, players guide a couple turned into tiny dolls as they navigate their home, overcoming various challenges while attempting to mend their fractured relationship.

Each level mirrors different rooms or areas of their house, offering unique environments and obstacles, complemented by gameplay mechanics that keep the experience engaging. It Takes Two is available on both PS4 and PS5.

Aliens: Dark Descent

Launched in 2023, Aliens: Dark Descent introduces players to a real-time tactics experience set in the iconic sci-fi horror universe of Alien. The game is set 19 years after the events of the original trilogy, placing players in command of a unit of colonial marines confronting a Xenomorph threat. The top-down perspective allows for strategic troop deployment and combat management.

The game features five base classes, each equipped with unique weapons and abilities, along with options for squad member customization and upgrades. In addition to the alien antagonists, players will also contend with forces from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. Aliens: Dark Descent will be available on both PS4 and PS5.

Temtem

For fans of creature-collection games, Temtem allows players to capture and collect various creatures known as Temtems, engaging in battles against other players or NPCs. Set in the expansive Airborne Archipelago, players can explore the world to find and tame new creatures, all while confronting the antagonistic Clan Belsoto, which threatens their island. This title will be available exclusively on PS5.

All three titles will be free for PS Plus members at the Essential, Extra, and Deluxe/Premium tiers. In addition to the monthly games, Sony is set to unveil new game trials and share preliminary information about additions to the Classics Catalog in celebration of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary in December.

Furthermore, PS Plus Deluxe/Premium members will gain access to a trial of Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 starting December 3. The Classics Catalog will also expand on December 10 with titles like Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, and Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.

Additionally, Sony is planning a free online multiplayer weekend from December 6 to December 8, allowing players to participate in online gaming without a PS Plus subscription. To enhance community engagement, Sony will host a series of PS5 esports tournaments over the same weekend, featuring popular titles such as EA Sports FC 25, NBA 2K25, Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat 1, and others. Sony is also giving away 30 months of free PS Plus Deluxe/Premium membership to 30 lucky winners in select countries.
