In recent months, Apple has significantly expanded its gaming offerings on its platforms, announcing several AAA titles that were previously available only on consoles and Windows PCs. At its iPhone 15 launch event in September, Apple confirmed the arrival of graphics-intensive games, including the remakes of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Village, alongside Death Stranding and Assassin’s Creed Mirage on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The company stated that the six-core A17 Pro chipset enables its mobile devices to run AAA games with impressive framerates and visuals.
The two Resident Evil titles have already made their debut on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, with the Resident Evil 4 remake releasing on Apple’s compatible devices last month. While Death Stranding Director’s Cut is set for release later this month, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is scheduled to launch on iPhone later this year.
Initially released for the PS4 in 2019, Death Stranding saw a PC port released a year later. The Director’s Cut version, featuring enhanced graphics and additional gameplay elements, was introduced natively on the PS5 in late 2021. The game unfolds in a post-apocalyptic setting, where an extinction event has created a connection between the living world and that of the dead. Players take on the role of Sam Porter Bridges, portrayed by Norman Reedus, who is charged with linking the fragmented remains of society dispersed across a barren landscape in the United States.
