Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was unveiled during The Game Awards 2022, with a scheduled release anticipated in 2025. Many familiar faces from the original title are set to reprise their roles, including Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, and Troy Baker. However, specifics surrounding the game’s narrative remain largely undisclosed. A definitive release date has not been announced, but Game Director Hideo Kojima indicated that more information regarding the launch date is expected next year.
During a Special Stage presentation focused on Death Stranding 2 at the Tokyo Game Show, Kojima communicated that while the release date has been established, its public confirmation will not occur until 2025.
“I haven’t revealed the release date today, but it has already been decided, and we’re diligently working towards that goal. Currently, various factors are influencing the timing of its release. We have confirmation that it will be launched in 2025, so an announcement will be made sometime next year,” Kojima stated (translated from Japanese) toward the conclusion of the presentation.
He further commented, “As I mentioned earlier, I am in the process of assembling the game, so it’s not yet complete, but I am feeling very optimistic about it, and it’s shaping up to be better than the first Death Stranding.”
Kojima also revealed new gameplay footage during TGS, introducing additional cast members such as Mad Max director George Miller and actress Elle Fanning. Additionally, a new feature dubbed the “Photo Shoot Event” was announced, showcasing a photo mode within the game.
In another noteworthy development, Kojima is collaborating with independent film production company A24 on a film adaptation of Death Stranding. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is set to be released for the PS5, targeting a 2025 launch.
