CD Projekt Red has announced an indefinite delay for the upcoming update of Cyberpunk 2077, emphasizing the need for additional time to ensure it meets their standards. Originally slated for release on June 26, Update 2.3 was revealed earlier this month alongside the RPG’s launch on the Nintendo Switch 2. While the studio has not provided specific details about the upcoming patch, they have indicated that it will mirror the scale of Update 2.2, which introduced new character customizations, enhanced photo mode features, and various improvements.
Update 2.3 for Cyberpunk 2077 on Hold
The company confirmed the postponement via a post on X on Monday but did not offer a revised release date for the update.
“We initially hoped to present Update 2.3 to you on June 26. However, we’ll need some more time to ensure we are satisfied with it — we’re aiming for a scope similar to Update 2.2. We’ll keep you informed as soon as we can,” the company stated.
While specifics about Update 2.3 were not disclosed at its initial announcement, it is becoming increasingly clear that the update will offer substantial content.
Update 2.2, which was launched in December 2024 across PC and consoles, incorporated various enhancements, including new customization options for the player character, V, alongside upgrades to in-game vehicles and a revamped photo mode featuring new interactions with character Johnny Silverhand.
Update 2.3 was first introduced during the REDstreams livestream, which celebrated the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5. Pawel Sasko, the associate game director at CD Projekt Red, shared that he was directly involved in the development of this upcoming update.
Cyberpunk 2077 served as a launch title for the Switch 2. Market analysts noted that it achieved significant success during the console’s launch period, emerging as the best-selling third-party game, surpassing the sales figures of The Witcher 3 on the original Switch.
