Cyberpunk 2077 is set to receive a fresh update nearly a year after the significant 2.1 release that introduced new gameplay elements, activities, and vehicles. Developer CD Projekt Red unexpectedly announced Update 2.2 on Monday and revealed plans for a livestream to showcase its features on Tuesday. However, the developer confirmed that the update will not include support for PlayStation 5 Pro or the highly requested New Game+ mode.

Announcement of Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.2

CD Projekt Red will provide insights into the upcoming features of Cyberpunk 2077 during a livestream scheduled for Tuesday, December 10, at 5 PM CET (9:30 PM IST), which will be broadcasted on both its Twitch and YouTube platforms. This announcement was made via the studio’s account on X (formerly Twitter).

In a separate message on X, CD Projekt’s global community director, Marcin Momot, addressed queries about the PS5 Pro and New Game+ features, confirming they would not be part of Update 2.2. “A lot of questions about whether PS5 Pro support and NG+ are coming with Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.2. The answer is no,” he stated. “We do have some other cool stuff in the oven and we’ll talk about it tomorrow during the stream—we hope you’ll like it too! Appreciate the patience.”

This upcoming update follows Update 2.1, released in December 2023, which added a functioning metro system, radioport functionality for in-game broadcasting, social hangout options with romantic partners, and new vehicles and activities.

The most significant changes to the game came with Update 2.0, which preceded the launch of the Phantom Liberty expansion in September 2023. This update revised several core mechanics, addressing long-standing criticisms regarding the police system and perk trees, alongside a range of fixes and enhancements.

Cyberpunk 2077 originally debuted on December 10, 2020, facing severe backlash due to numerous bugs and performance issues across PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game’s initial technical troubles even led to its removal from the PlayStation Store for a period. Since then, however, CD Projekt Red has continued to issue numerous updates and improvements to enhance the gameplay experience. The developer’s ongoing commitment to the RPG earned it the accolade of Best Ongoing Game at The Game Awards 2023.
