Anthropic has announced a new enhancement for its artificial intelligence chatbot, Claude. The feature, referred to as Research, enables the AI to perform multiple web searches on various topics, aiming to gather extensive information and examine different perspectives on inquiries. This capability echoes similar functionalities found in other AI models such as Deep Research in Gemini and ChatGPT. The announcement was made last week.
Claude Can Now Research Queries
The AI company disclosed the new Research capability along with its Google Workspace integration in a press release last week. Currently, Research is accessible in beta to Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers located in Brazil, Japan, and the United States. Users can activate the tool by enabling the Research feature in their chat settings. The Google Workspace integration has been rolled out to all paid users and can be configured in profile settings.

The Research feature in Claude acts as an agentic tool, seamlessly connecting with the Internet as well as Google Docs, Gmail, and Calendar through the Google Workspace integration. Users simply need to submit a query after toggling on the Research option, prompting the AI to conduct numerous web searches on the subject and related areas to collect information. If permitted by the user, Claude can also access data stored in Google Workspace to find pertinent details.
After gathering the information, Claude can autonomously draft emails in Gmail, save content in Google Docs, or create Calendar entries, requiring only user verification before finalizing or sending the output.
Importantly, responses generated through the Research feature will include citations to indicate their sources. Anthropic asserts that the AI will provide comprehensive answers within minutes, ensuring a balance of speed and quality.
While Google Workspace integration is available to all paid Claude subscribers, administrators on Team and Enterprise plans must enable access across their organization before individual users can link their accounts.
