The Beeper app for Android has undergone a significant transformation with its latest update. Users who download the revised application will discover a fresh interface and enhanced support for various native features unique to Google’s mobile operating system. Additional optimizations have been made for tablets, foldable devices, and smartphones with larger displays. Although a waitlist is in place for those wishing to access the service, users can leverage invite codes to bypass the queue.

In a recent blog post, Beeper Founder Eric Migicovsky announced the launch of the new beta version of the app. Migicovsky indicated that the application has been completely rewritten to boost performance. Currently, the Android version is in beta testing, and the company is preparing to introduce a subscription model “in the very near future.”

The updated application is designed to cache conversations on users’ smartphones for quicker loading times, along with improved search capabilities to navigate messages easily. The older Beeper Cloud app remains available for download, while the Beeper Mini app, which previously provided direct access to iMessage on Android before being shut down by Apple, was removed from circulation in January.

Users who have successfully navigated the waitlist are required to download the new beta version of Beeper for Android through the Play Store. The update features two new themes – Material You and OLED Black – and offers Minimal and Pro inbox layouts for a more streamlined or detailed viewing of chats, respectively.

The latest iteration of Beeper for Android also includes support for native functionalities, such as chat bubbles and a new home screen widget that provides easy access to conversations. Furthermore, the app has been optimized for larger screens, enhancing usability on foldable phones and tablets.

Currently, the revamped app supports various messaging platforms, including WhatsApp, SMS (with RCS), Messenger, Telegram, and Signal. Future updates are expected to introduce features that allow users to delete chats and incorporate an on-device end-to-end encryption (E2EE) bridge for WhatsApp and Google Messages. While support for iMessage is not yet available, plans for an on-device bridge are anticipated in subsequent releases.
