The excitement surrounding Battlefield 6 has reached a fever pitch as fans eagerly await the next installment in the franchise, which has been absent for nearly four years. This growing enthusiasm is evidenced by the substantial number of players participating in the game’s initial open beta, which is scheduled to take place over two months before its official release in October. Currently, even prior to the start of early access, over 20,000 players have been simultaneously logged into the game on Steam, ready to explore its multiplayer maps and modes.
Battlefield 6 Open Beta Scheduled for August 7
Data from the SteamDB charts indicates a peak concurrent player count of 24,879 on Steam for the first Battlefield 6 open beta, all before its official launch. Early access is set to commence on Thursday, August 7 at 8:00 UTC (1 am PT or 1:30 pm IST). With the beta going live, it is anticipated that many more players will join in, especially from the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X communities.
Users accessing the open beta have encountered busy servers, with some reporting significant queue times. One player shared a screenshot on Reddit revealing that the Battlefield 6 servers were at capacity, showing a queue position of 48,880.
Pre-loading for the Battlefield 6 open beta kicked off on Monday for PC users (across Steam, Epic Games Store, and the EA App), as well as for PS5 and Xbox Series S/X gamers. Early access is granted to those who signed up for Battlefield Labs by July 31 or are subscribers to EA Play Pro. For all other players, the beta weekend will commence on August 9 and run through August 10. Another round of beta testing is scheduled for August 14 to August 17.
This week, EA outlined the available maps, modes, and challenges for the open beta in anticipation of the game’s full release. The first open beta will include three maps: Siege of Cairo, Liberation Peak, and Iberian Offensive, along with five multiplayer game modes: Conquest, Closed Weapons Breakthrough, Breakthrough, Domination, and King of the Hill.
The upcoming second beta phase will introduce an additional map and two new modes to those featured in the first segment.
Battlefield 6 is slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X on October 10. This eagerly awaited military shooter, marking the franchise’s return after several years, is currently available for pre-order at various online retailers.
