The much-anticipated Assassin’s Creed game, previously known as Codename Red, has officially been named Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ubisoft made the announcement on Monday, confirming that the game will be fully unveiled on May 15. Set against the backdrop of feudal Japan, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is expected to follow a format similar to that of 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, emphasizing an open-world action-RPG experience. Additionally, the logo for the game has been unveiled.
Ubisoft’s press release highlighted that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to be the latest entry in the longstanding franchise. The full reveal is scheduled for May 15 at 5pm BST / 9am PT (9:30pm IST), streaming on Ubisoft’s official YouTube channel. Fans can anticipate a trailer that will likely disclose further information regarding the game’s setting, protagonist, and potentially a release date or timeframe.
In an engaging social media campaign, Ubisoft has initiated a countdown across its Assassin’s Creed channels, encouraging fans to participate in an hourglass puzzle that promises rewards. Players can also now wish-list Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the Ubisoft store.
Although Ubisoft has remained tight-lipped about the specifics of Shadows in its initial announcement, information from a dataminer has surfaced regarding the title’s pricing and planned post-launch content. According to X user @Ubisoft_Frax, the game will be retailing at GBP 59.99 (approximately Rs. 6,290). The associated season pass is expected to cost $40 (around Rs. 3,340), along with two planned expansions priced at $25 (around Rs. 2,087) each.

In October of the previous year, details leaked via a Ubisoft writer’s LinkedIn profile hinted at a female character who is believed to be the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The game is expected to return to the expansive open-world RPG format characteristic of earlier titles in the franchise, contrasting with the more focused approach seen in the recent Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
Ubisoft released AC Mirage last October, marking a shift back to the franchise’s foundational elements. The game was designed with a more linear, stealth-oriented gameplay style, diverging from the expansive maps and RPG elements implemented in earlier titles.
Besides Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft is also in the process of developing Assassin’s Creed Hexe, which is touted to be the “darkest Assassin’s Creed game ever.” This installment is set in the late stages of the Holy Roman Empire, specifically during the notorious witch trials of the 16th century.
