New insights from South Korea suggest specific features that may distinguish this display from those found in Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series. The anticipated launch date for Apple’s foldable iPhone is projected for 2026, likely coinciding with the September release schedule.
Innovative Display for iPhone Fold
The display designed for the iPhone is expected to feature an integrated touch sensor, which reportedly allows for a 19 percent reduction in thickness compared to the panels employed in Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold models. Additionally, this new screen is anticipated to contribute to a lighter device while enhancing color accuracy and brightness.
The insider revealed that Samsung’s initiative to reduce the thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is likely a preparatory step as they gear up to deliver displays for Apple. Recent reports suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 aims to become the most slender foldable smartphone upon its launch, measuring a mere 3.9mm when opened and 8.9mm when closed.
Apple’s entry into the foldable market is expected to debut in the upcoming year, likely in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series. This device is projected to adopt a book-style foldable design, featuring a 12-inch interior display. When folded, the smartphone is estimated to be 9.2mm thick, shrinking to 4.6mm when opened. An aluminum alloy middle frame is anticipated, alongside a dual rear camera setup that includes a primary sensor and an ultra-wide-angle camera. The device may also boast a battery capacity of approximately 5,000mAh.
