According to recent reports, Apple may not introduce significant enhancements to its Siri voice assistant during the forthcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2025) scheduled for next month. Sources indicate that the tech giant plans to concentrate on refining its current Apple Intelligence capabilities and potentially adding a few new features with its forthcoming iOS 19 update, expected later this year. This cautious approach follows challenges the company encountered when launching an upgraded version of Siri that was demonstrated at last year’s WWDC.

Apple Shifts Focus to Selected AI Features for iOS 19 Update

A report from Bloomberg suggests that Apple is prioritizing the enhancement of existing Apple Intelligence features that have already been deployed, rather than presenting major advancements at WWDC 2025 in June. The report indicates that the company is developing at least two new features slated for inclusion in the upcoming iOS 19 update.

Anticipated announcements at WWDC 2025 include an AI-driven feature that estimates the time needed to charge an iPhone. Additionally, a new virtual health coach for the Health app may be unveiled, utilizing AI to analyze data from Apple Watch and other sources to offer health insights.

Furthermore, Apple appears to be strategizing to market Siri and Apple Intelligence independently, even while it pursues advancements in its voice assistant technology. The company intends to adopt a more cautious stance when revealing new functionalities, opting to disclose them only months prior to their official release.

Last year, Apple unveiled a range of AI enhancements intended for eligible iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. While it has successfully rolled out some features, including Genmoji, Writing Tools, and Clean Up (Photos), the most significant transformation—a fully AI-enhanced Siri—has yet to be made available to users.

Moreover, reports suggest that the AI features introduced during WWDC 2024 may not be available until next year. Apple’s voice assistant currently lags behind competing services from Google and Microsoft, as well as AI-centric companies like Perplexity and OpenAI. More details regarding Apple’s software developments and updates are expected to be revealed at WWDC 2025, which kicks off on June 9.
