Apple has introduced iCloud password support for Mozilla Firefox on Windows PC through a new extension that enables users to autofill their passwords while browsing. Previously, this feature was limited to Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge users on Windows. Users need to use the iCloud for Windows app for managing their passwords and activating this new functionality, as there is no standalone password manager available at this time.
The Extension Has Been Live For Months
The recent update to Apple’s iCloud for Windows support page confirms that iCloud password support for Mozilla Firefox has been added via an add-on. Although the extension has been available for several months, it had not been operational for Firefox users until it was made functional following an update on July 8. It is important to point out that Apple has yet to provide a standalone password manager app, meaning users will still rely on the iCloud for Windows app to manage their credentials and enable the new autofill feature.
Reports suggest that the Mozilla Firefox add-on is currently only compatible with Windows 11 users.

According to Firefox’s add-ons page, the extension was last updated on February 4. However, it appears Apple, which is noted for its commitment to user privacy, did not enable the extension’s functionality for users until recently. This update emerges in the wake of a complaint filed against Firefox in September 2024, which alleged that the browser was tracking user behavior on websites without obtaining explicit consent.
The complaint was brought forth by privacy activist Max Schrems of the organization None Of Your Business (NOYB), who accused Mozilla of enabling a privacy-preserving attribution (PPA) feature that effectively transformed Firefox into a tracking tool.
