Amazon Prime Video is set to change its policy on device connectivity for users in India, announcing a significant reduction in the number of devices that can be linked to one account. The current limit of 10 devices will be halved, with the new policy taking effect in early 2025.
Amazon Prime Video Decreases Device Limits
In an update to its terms and conditions, which was brought to light by industry tipster Ishan Agarwal, Amazon revealed that from January 2025, Prime Video users will only be able to connect up to five devices to a single account. Additionally, the number of TVs permitted under this device quota will be restricted to just two. Users can manage their connected devices through the settings page and will need to either remove existing devices or subscribe to another account to connect more.
This policy shift comes after a period during which Amazon had allowed users to link up to 10 devices to their Prime accounts.
Amazon Prime Subscription Information
The annual subscription for Amazon Prime in India is priced at Rs. 1,499, with alternative options available for one-month and three-month plans at Rs. 299 and Rs. 599, respectively. Subscribers enjoy a range of benefits, including same-day and one-day delivery choices, free shipping without a minimum order size, cashback on selected credit card purchases, and early access to lightning deals.
In addition to these benefits, the subscription also provides access to a variety of Amazon services, including Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Gaming, and Prime Reading.
Amazon also offers a budget-friendly Prime Lite option, available for Rs. 799 annually. This plan shares many advantages of the standard membership, such as two-day shipping on selected items at no extra charge and eligibility for free delivery with no minimum purchase amount. However, it restricts Prime Video access to mobile devices only, and the maximum resolution allowed is 720p.
