On Wednesday, Adobe announced the public beta release of its Generate Video tool, now accessible to all users. This AI-driven video generation feature utilizes the company’s Firefly Video Model, which was initially showcased in September 2024. Alongside this launch, Adobe unveiled a redesigned Firefly web app that emphasizes various generative AI tools powered by Firefly models, which are usable directly from the platform. Additionally, Adobe introduced two new Firefly subscription plans.

The Generate Video tool marks Adobe’s first complete video generation solution powered by artificial intelligence. It allows users to input both text prompts and images, facilitating the creation of videos in 1080p resolution at 24 frames per second. According to a newsroom announcement, the tool provides users with detailed control over their projects, enabling customization of camera angles, motion, shooting distances, art styles, and other cinematographic elements. At present, the tool can produce videos lasting five seconds each.

Users can also submit more intricate requests such as locking specific frames for continuity, maintaining consistent color schemes, and ensuring character details remain uniform. Adobe indicated that plans are in the works to introduce a lower-resolution ideation model and a 4K production model shortly. Companies such as PepsiCo, Stagwell, and Dentsu are currently leveraging Generate Video for various practical applications.

The Firefly web app, which debuted in 2023, has received a significant redesign to enhance user experience. This platform serves as a central hub for Adobe’s generative AI tools, and the updated interface simplifies navigating different options. Furthermore, the app has been integrated with Adobe’s Creative Cloud software, including popular programs like Photoshop and Premiere Pro. Adobe asserts that its Firefly AI models have been trained using public domain datasets and licensed content, ensuring that they are safe and compliant for commercial use.

In addition to Generate Video, Adobe also introduced two new features – Scene to Image and Translate Audio/Translate Video – on the Firefly platform. Unlike the Generate Video tool, these features require a paid subscription. Scene to Image generates high-quality images derived from 3D sketches and reference shapes, allowing for adjustments in angles and perspectives. The Translate Audio/Translate Video tool enables the translation of audio files and channels in videos into over 20 languages while preserving the original speaker’s voice.

Adobe also rolled out two new Firefly subscription plans that offer credits for utilizing its models. The Firefly Standard plan is priced at $9.99 per month, granting users 2,000 video and audio credits and up to 20 five-second video generations. The more comprehensive Firefly Pro plan, available for $29.99 per month, includes 7,000 credits and allows for up to 70 five-second video generations. Both subscription tiers include unlimited access to Firefly’s imaging and vector functionalities.
