Reports suggest that Rockstar Games has been in discussions with creators from popular platforms like Fortnite and Roblox, exploring the possibility of allowing them to incorporate unique items, assets, and experiences into the upcoming game.
GTA 6 Aims to Emerge as a Leading Metaverse Platform
A recent report from Digiday indicates that Rockstar is positioning GTA 6 to become a significant player in the metaverse space, centering on creator-driven experiences to enhance player engagement. According to sources familiar with ongoing conversations, Rockstar has been reaching out to prominent creators from both Fortnite and Roblox, as well as seasoned GTA content creators, to devise custom experiences within the game.
Similar to the models established by Fortnite and Roblox, these creators could potentially bring their own intellectual properties into GTA 6 as in-game assets and environments. Sponsorship opportunities may also be a component of these collaborations. However, details surrounding the financial arrangements for these partnerships remain vague. In general, creators receive a percentage of the sales made from any in-game items purchased by players. The current talks between Rockstar and these creators have been characterized as “open-ended.”
User-Generated Content in GTA 5 Online
The Grand Theft Auto franchise has a rich history of embracing user-generated content. In GTA 5 Online, players can access dedicated servers for role-playing experiences and utilize various mods that customize the gameplay to their preferences. Earlier this year, Rockstar expanded its reach in this domain by acquiring the developers behind the popular mod FiveM.
