YouTube has announced a collaboration with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to enhance educational opportunities for students across India. The partnership will focus on launching new YouTube channels that will provide curated content tailored for learners from grade 1 through grade 12. Additionally, YouTube will collaborate with the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) to offer access to credentialed courses, which will include the option to obtain certification from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT).
Google and NCERT to Enhance Accessibility with Indian Sign Language
The streaming platform reports that it is working closely with the NCERT to develop multiple YouTube channels aimed at increasing educational accessibility in remote regions. The NCERT will create channels that are aligned with the educational curriculum for grades 1 to 12, according to the announcement from the company.
Google revealed that these new channels will support 29 Indian languages, although a specific list has not yet been disclosed. Importantly, the content will also be presented in Indian Sign Language, improving accessibility for students with disabilities. The channels are expected to be launched in India in the coming months.
NPTEL to Provide Courses and Certifications for Broader Audience
While admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) is highly competitive, the institutes are extending educational resources to individuals outside the IIT community. In partnership with the NPTEL, YouTube will introduce 50 credentialed courses for learners throughout the country.

Upon completing the courses, users will have the opportunity to obtain an online certification through the NPTEL-SWAYAM website, which is managed by NPTEL and the Ministry of Education (MoE).
