Xiaomi unveiled a new visual identity for its Redmi sub-brand in India on Wednesday. The technology company, headquartered in Beijing, stated that the Redmi 15 5G will be the inaugural smartphone to showcase this refreshed brand image. The rebranding includes a new logo characterized by bold, uppercase lettering in a vibrant red hue. Xiaomi has been present in the Indian market since 2014 and marked its 11th anniversary in the country last month.

In an official statement, Xiaomi India expressed that this updated identity reflects a deeper understanding of its consumer base in India. The first device to adopt the new branding, the Redmi 15 5G, is set to launch on August 19.
This refreshed visual identity for Redmi was initially unveiled in November 2024, but at that time, it was exclusive to the Chinese market. This rebranding coincided with the launch of the Redmi K80 series on November 27, 2024.
“The new Redmi identity encapsulates our shared evolution. Young India is characterized by boldness while remaining grounded, and ambitious yet self-aware,” commented Sudhin Mathur, Chief Operating Officer at Xiaomi India, in a prepared statement on Wednesday.
Since its debut in the Indian smartphone sector in 2014, Redmi claims to have sold over 220 million devices, contributing to a total of 1.1 billion handsets shipped globally. Remarkably, less than two years after entering the Indian market, the company achieved a revenue milestone of $1 billion (approximately Rs. 8,765 crores).
The Redmi Note 4 (Review), which launched in India in 2017 with an introductory price of Rs. 9,999, emerged as a formidable competitor in its price bracket, even challenging models that were priced slightly higher. Additionally, devices such as the Redmi 12 5G (Review) and Redmi 13 5G aim to provide affordable access to 5G connectivity.
