The Xiaomi 16 and Xiaomi 16 Pro are still several months away from their expected release, yet early information about these devices is already emerging online. Recent leaks have disclosed notable specifications for the base model within the Xiaomi 16 series, hinting at some compelling features for this upcoming smartphone. The standard Xiaomi 16 is rumored to come equipped with the largest battery ever incorporated into a 6.32-inch display device, alongside a potential triple camera configuration on its rear.
Xiaomi 16 Specification (Expected)
A user known as Smart Pikachu on Weibo (translated from Chinese) has shared key details about the Xiaomi 16. The device is anticipated to have a compact design, showcasing a 6.32-inch flat display characterized by slim bezels. It will reportedly operate on the HyperOS 3 interface, which is believed to be built on the Android 16 framework.
The Xiaomi 16 is also expected to maintain a lightweight design. The smartphone may include a triple camera system, featuring a 50-megapixel primary sensor, mirroring that of the current-generation Xiaomi 15. One of the most significant claims made is that the phone will house the largest battery seen in a device with a 6.3-inch display, though the exact battery capacity remains undisclosed. Current indications suggest it would surpass the OnePlus 13T, which was introduced in China earlier this month with a 6,260mAh battery.
According to recent speculations, the battery capacity of the Xiaomi 16 could be around 7,000mAh. It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor, which Qualcomm has yet to announce. There are also rumors that Xiaomi will implement the latest silicon-carbon (Si/C) technology in the upcoming Xiaomi 16 series.
In contrast, the recently launched Xiaomi 15 in China features a 5,400mAh battery that supports 90W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. The version available in India has a slightly smaller 5,240mAh battery, retaining the same fast charging capabilities, and is priced at Rs. 64,999 for the model with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
The Xiaomi 16 is likely to showcase several enhancements over its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15. The latter is equipped with a 6.36-inch Full-HD+ (1,200 x 2,670 pixels) LTPO AMOLED display, powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. The device supports up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and has 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Its camera setup includes a triple rear configuration featuring a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 900 sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, along with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone also carries an IP68 rating, granting it protection against water and dust exposure.
