Microsoft has announced that its innovative “stream your own game” feature will now be accessible to all Game Pass Ultimate members using Xbox Series S and X consoles. Previously, this cloud streaming capability, which enables players to stream titles they own alongside those in the Game Pass library, was limited to PC, mobile devices, tablets, handhelds, and other compatible platforms.

Streaming Games on Xbox Consoles

In an update released in April, Microsoft confirmed that the cloud streaming feature has been extended to Xbox Series S and X consoles. This addition complements a range of previously supported devices, including Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices, Meta Quest headsets, and various browsers on PCs, smartphones, and tablets.

The “stream your own game” feature allows Xbox gamers to bypass the sometimes lengthy wait associated with downloading and installing games. This means they can dive straight into their titles, preserving valuable hard drive space.

To access this feature, Xbox Series S and X users can navigate to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games. Titles compatible with cloud play will feature a cloud badge on their respective pages. Additionally, users can utilize the Cloud gaming filter for a streamlined way to discover more games available for cloud streaming.

Once a user selects a compatible game, they can choose “Play with Cloud Gaming” to begin streaming directly from the Store app, accessible after purchasing select games that offer this functionality.

Xbox has significantly broadened its selection of games supporting cloud play, with more than 100 titles now streamable for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. The latest additions include Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, Kill It With Fire, LEGO Marvel Superheroes, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 2, Monster Jam Showdown, Squirrel with a Gun, Subnautica 2, and Wanderstop. Furthermore, plans are in place to introduce 19 additional titles to the “stream your own game” library soon.

This feature was first unveiled by Microsoft in November 2024, marking a shift in cloud streaming capabilities to include select personal game library titles for Game Pass Ultimate members. It was made available to users across various platforms initially, and later allowed for testing on Xbox Series S and X consoles for Xbox Insiders.

The April update also highlighted new functionalities in the Xbox app, such as the ability to purchase games and add-on content, join Game Pass, and redeem perks. Additionally, Microsoft announced improved accessibility for the Xbox Remote Play feature across a broader range of devices.
