The microblogging platform X, formerly known as Twitter, seems to be back online after a significant outage that affected many users on Thursday. Reports began surfacing around 11 AM, indicating that numerous individuals faced difficulties accessing the service, and some were unable to view any posts. Staff members from Gadgets 360 also experienced issues when attempting to use the platform’s web interface and mobile applications.
Update: As of approximately 12:10 PM, X appears to be functioning properly again, with posts visible across all feeds nearly an hour after the initial complaints of service disruption.
According to Downdetector, a platform dedicated to tracking service outages, there were over 67,000 reports from users indicating that they could not access X on Thursday. The Indian version of the site received more than 4,800 reports echoing similar issues. However, at the time of this report, the Twitter API Status page indicated that “All Systems Operational”.
While some sections of X seem operational, such as the Trending Topics feature displaying hashtags relevant to users’ geographic regions, clicking on these trends has not yielded any posts. Users found their feeds empty, including the main timeline that appears upon logging into the platform.
The Lists section shows various lists, but when clicked, it returns the message: “Waiting for posts. Posts from people in this List will show up here.” This indicates that the platform is currently unable to present any posts, including those from its owner, Elon Musk.
In contrast, the Spaces feature remains fully operational. A staff member from Gadgets 360 successfully joined a discussion related to the service outage, and hosts of Spaces can still manage speakers as expected.
Direct messages are also functioning correctly, and notifications about users’ posts appear to be working as intended. However, users still cannot access the tweets associated with those notifications at the time of this report.
