X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, has announced an increase in the price of its premium subscription service across several markets, including India. The subscription, dubbed X Premium+, will see significant price adjustments, particularly in the United States, where the cost has surged by nearly 40 percent. X Premium+ Price Adjustment
In a detailed blog post, X explained the modifications to the Premium+ subscription pricing structure. New subscribers will be subject to the revised rates effective immediately upon subscription, while existing members will retain their current rates until their billing cycle begins after January 21, 2025. After that date, the updated pricing will apply. The platform noted that the adjustments will differ based on factors like regional taxation and payment methods.
In the United States, the monthly fee for the X Premium+ subscription was previously set at $16 (approximately Rs. 1,360), with the annual subscription priced at $168 (about Rs. 14,000). Following the new adjustments, the monthly fee will increase to $22 (around Rs. 1,900), while the annual plan will rise to $229 (about Rs. 19,000).
In India, the subscription cost was revised from Rs. 1,300 per month or Rs. 13,600 per year to Rs. 1,750 for the monthly plan and Rs. 18,300 for an annual subscription. Additionally, users signing up through the X app on Android and iOS devices will face even higher price tags.
The price increase also extends to other regions, including Canada, the European Union, Nigeria, and Turkey.
