X (formerly known as Twitter) has increased the price of its X Premium+ subscription, the platform’s top-tier offering. This adjustment in pricing currently applies to users in the United States. The timing of this increase appears closely linked to the introduction of the Grok 3 family of artificial intelligence models by Elon Musk’s xAI. Customers subscribing to Premium+ will now pay double the previous subscription rate. The price change affects only the Premium+ tier, while the Basic and Premium subscriptions remain at their established rates. Additionally, a new Super Grok subscription has been announced.

Revised Pricing for X Premium+ Subscription

As reported by TechCrunch, the X Premium+ subscription fee has reached nearly $50 (approximately ₹4,350) monthly in the U.S., a substantial increase from the former price of $22 (around ₹1,900) per month. The annual cost has also reportedly risen to $350 (approximately ₹30,400).

The report indicates that these new prices were listed on the platform’s support page in the U.S. However, there are discrepancies with the pricing. During verification, reporters discovered differing monthly charges of $39.83 (roughly ₹3,460) and an annual fee of $477.95 (about ₹41,560). Yet, the final checkout revealed a price of $395 (approximately ₹34,350). Staff members at Gadgets 360 also noticed that the support page still displayed the previous rate of $22 per month for X Premium+.

If accurate, this would represent the second price increase for the Premium+ subscription in three months. In December 2024, the price was raised from $16 (around ₹1,400) monthly to $22. This hike was also reflected in India, where the subscription cost went from ₹1,300 monthly or ₹13,600 annually to ₹1,525 monthly or ₹18,300 annually.

The platform may be experimenting with A/B testing on its pricing strategy to evaluate consumer response. However, the updated prices have not yet been applied in India, where they remain at the previously increased amounts set last December.

Interestingly, this price hike was identified shortly after the Grok 3 AI models were launched. These new models introduce innovative features such as chain-of-thought (CoT) reasoning, DeepSearch, and voice mode.
