The microblogging platform X, previously known as Twitter, experienced outages across multiple regions, including India, on Saturday. Users reported that both the X website and its applications for iOS and Android were displaying errors while attempting to access posts and videos. Many turned to Downdetector, a widely used service for tracking online outages, to express their inability to connect to X. Although X had addressed a significant outage a few days prior, some users were still facing performance issues related to login processes.
Update (8:05 PM): By 8 PM on Saturday, the X website and mobile applications were reportedly back online, with staff from Gadgets 360 confirming access to the service at the time of this report.
X Experiences Downtime Affecting Thousands of Users
Beginning around 6 PM on Saturday, users began to report difficulties accessing the X platform via Downdetector.com. At the time of this report, there were approximately 25,950 reports detailing various connectivity issues, with a notable surge around 6 PM. Among the reports, 69 percent indicated problems with the X app, while 23 percent were related to the website, and 8 percent involved issues connecting to X’s servers.
Meanwhile, users in India were also reporting issues accessing both the website and mobile applications, according to Downdetector.in. More than 2,200 users in the country indicated difficulties, with 46 percent reporting app issues, 38 percent citing login problems, and 18 percent unable to access the website.
As of publication, Gadgets 360 staff members were unable to view posts on X, encountering an error message when attempting to load new content. Users received a notification stating “Something went wrong. Try reloading,” accompanied by a Retry button that was ineffective. Those using the app were met with a message indicating, “Posts aren’t loading right now.”
The X Developer Platform Status webpage mentioned that “Login with X (OAuth) and other X platform login flows are experiencing degraded performance.” It remains unclear if the current issues are connected to these login complications. The platform had previously resolved a significant outage lasting 1.5 hours on Friday, which ended around 11 PM IST. The login issue involving OAuth has not yet been rectified, according to the status updates. The last notable outage reported prior to this incident occurred on May 9. Users are encouraged to monitor the X Developer Platform Status webpage for updates regarding these disruptions.
