X, previously known as Twitter, is making strides toward a video-centric future with the introduction of a new smart TV application. The announcement was made on Tuesday, revealing that the app will be compatible with various devices, enabling users to enjoy platform-hosted videos on larger screens. While an official release date has yet to be confirmed, several anticipated features have been unveiled, including content curated by trending algorithms and the use of artificial intelligence for topic organization.
Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, conveyed the news through a post on the platform, stating, “From the small screen to the big screen, X is changing everything. Soon, we’ll bring real-time, engaging content to your smart TVs with the X TV App. This will be your go-to companion for a high-quality, immersive entertainment experience on a larger screen.” Although still in the development phase, the launch of the smart TV app is expected to occur soon.
During the announcement, Yaccarino highlighted several features that users can look forward to. The X TV app will utilize the same trending video algorithm that powers the platform, ensuring that users are greeted with popular videos tailored to their interests upon launching the app. Additionally, the app will allow for AI-enhanced organization of videos by topic, promising a more personalized user experience, although further details are forthcoming.
The X TV app will also offer cross-device functionality, allowing users to pause a video on their mobile device and resume watching from the same point on their smart TV, provided both devices are logged into the same account. Yaccarino indicated that the app would enhance video search capabilities, making it easier for viewers to locate specific content. Furthermore, casting support will be included.

Accompanying the post, Yaccarino shared a teaser video showcasing the app’s interface, which appears to be fairly standard, featuring account settings in the top left corner and icons for search and home. Various topic-based feeds, including Trending and For You, were visible, with the potential for more topics created through AI and X’s recommendation algorithms.
