WhatsApp has introduced a new functionality aimed at enhancing the organization of stickers within the app. Users of the Meta Platforms’ instant messaging service can now create their own custom sticker packs directly, streamlining the process of accessing and sharing stickers with friends and family. Additionally, the platform has added a feature that allows users to send an entire sticker pack at once, rather than having to share stickers one by one.
Creating Custom Sticker Packs on WhatsApp
The testing phase for the custom sticker pack feature commenced in October 2024. Earlier this year, it became accessible to a select group of users on WhatsApp beta for Android, specifically those enrolled in the Google Play Beta Programme. That limitation has now been lifted.
With the most recent update, both Android and iOS users can create custom sticker packs within WhatsApp without relying on third-party applications. The company announced the new feature, stating, “You can now create your own sticker packs and share them directly in your chats, so your friends and family can all use your custom stickers to express themselves.” A new pencil icon is now visible in the sticker selection interface, next to options for GIFs, avatars, and stickers.
To create a custom sticker pack, users should follow these steps:
- Open the stickers section
- Tap on the pencil icon
- Select the stickers to include
- Click the three-dot menu in the bottom-left corner
- Choose the “Add to sticker pack” option
Users have the ability to name their folders, and the custom packs will appear alongside other saved stickers in the app. While individual stickers can be sent to others, WhatsApp also allows users to send entire sticker packs collectively. It is important to note that only user-generated stickers can be saved in these custom sticker packs; stickers created by WhatsApp itself are not eligible for inclusion.
