The latest WhatsApp Beta update introduces the ability to create AI-generated stickers, marking the instant messaging application’s first integration of artificial intelligence. Currently, this feature is being rolled out to a select group of users participating in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.17.14. Users will be able to craft personalized stickers by providing descriptive prompts to the AI. A broader release of this functionality is anticipated in the upcoming days for users worldwide.
WABetaInfo, a feature tracker, reported on the new update, indicating that it is currently available to a limited number of testers. Similar to existing sticker options, the AI-generated stickers can be found in the stickers tab. Users can initiate the creation process by selecting the new “Create” button.

As of now, WhatsApp has not disclosed when the AI sticker feature will be available to all users. Furthermore, Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has yet to reveal which generative AI technology is being utilized for this feature. Given the potential security and copyright implications associated with generative AI, it remains to be seen whether Meta will implement additional measures to address these concerns regarding the stickers.
