WhatsApp is reportedly working on an innovative feature for its iOS application that aims to enhance the management of multiple accounts from a single iPhone. Earlier this year, the Meta-owned messaging service confirmed plans to introduce multi-account support for iOS devices. According to a feature tracker, the app is set to include a new settings section that will display all accounts logged into the iPhone, making it easier for users to switch between them.

Switching Between Multiple Accounts on WhatsApp

As noted by WABetaInfo, a resource that tracks WhatsApp features, the messaging application is developing this multi-account capability for a forthcoming version. The feature was identified in the beta version 25.19.10.74 of WhatsApp for iOS. Once launched, it is expected to allow users to seamlessly transition between various accounts, whether personal or for business purposes, on their iPhones.

Screenshots accompanying reports indicate that WhatsApp will introduce an Account List section within the settings. This area is designed to serve as a centralized hub for users to manage multiple accounts on their devices. Users will reportedly be able to add or remove accounts, view profile pictures and statuses for easy identification, and switch accounts directly from the Account List page.

When a user selects a specific account, WhatsApp will load the associated chat history and modify settings such as auto-download options, notification tones, and backup preferences. Notably, users will be able to switch accounts without needing to log out or restart the app.

In addition to managing accounts, WhatsApp is also working on a new way to handle notifications from multiple accounts on the same device. When a notification from a secondary account arrives while a user is logged into their primary account, WhatsApp is expected to display the sender’s name along with the account name. Tapping on this notification will switch the application to the secondary account, directing the user to the relevant conversation.

According to WABetaInfo, these features are currently still in development and are not accessible to beta testers participating in Apple’s TestFlight program.
