WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature that will enable users to choose a theme accent for its messaging app on iOS. Recent observations from a feature tracker indicate that the app’s beta version has undergone a visual update, introducing a green hue to various elements of the interface. Users can expect to select from five color accents in an upcoming update.
According to code extracted from a recent beta update of WhatsApp for iOS, users will soon have the option to customize certain parts of the user interface, including message counts displayed on the chat list, circles around status updates, selected tab colors, and various buttons. These findings were shared by WABetaInfo, a site dedicated to tracking WhatsApp developments, which also noted that the other existing color option is blue.
WABetaInfo highlighted a screenshot showcasing the five proposed accent color options, which include WhatsApp’s signature green, the current blue, an off-white option, as well as pink and purple hues. Users selecting one of these options will find that it only alters the primary branding color in the app.
Additionally, a recent beta version—WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.1.10.72—is currently being distributed to testers through the TestFlight program. This update includes a newly introduced sticker editor feature aimed at reducing users’ reliance on third-party sticker applications.
Details from WABetaInfo reveal that tapping on existing stickers will provide testers with an Edit Sticker option. There will also be a Create Your Own button that enables users to design their own stickers. Furthermore, users will have the ability to remove backgrounds from images stored on their devices while creating stickers.
While the sticker editor is in the process of rolling out to beta testers, the color accent feature is still under development, and it’s uncertain when it will become available for testing. Historically, WhatsApp ensures that features are consistently available across both iOS and Android platforms, suggesting that these enhancements could eventually reach Android users as well.
