WhatsApp is set to bring its Events feature to personal chats in the near future. Originally introduced for WhatsApp Communities in May 2024, the feature is now reportedly being tested for individual chats on both Android and iOS platforms. Users worldwide may see this functionality as it rolls out in the coming days. Previously, the platform was also exploring a music feature for Status updates, reminiscent of a similar offering on Instagram, another subsidiary of Meta.
Events Feature in Individual WhatsApp Chats for Android, iOS Users
According to a report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently testing an option that enables users to create and share events within individual conversations. This feature has been available only in group chats and Communities until now. It is being trialed with beta users on Android version 2.25.3.6 and iOS version 25.2.10.73.
Some beta testers have begun to access the event scheduling function, which is gradually becoming available to a broader user base. Regular users might expect to see this capability implemented within the next few months. Until now, users had to create two-person groups as a workaround to plan events, but this new update simplifies event organization directly in personal chats.
The updated feature allows WhatsApp users to schedule and manage events seamlessly within private conversations. Reports indicate that this enhancement minimizes the back-and-forth messaging typically involved by consolidating all essential information into a single message.
Users can leverage the events feature for a variety of purposes, whether personal or professional. This includes planning casual gatherings, scheduling medical appointments, organizing business meetings, and setting payment reminders. While creating an event, users can specify locations for in-person gatherings or attach links for video/audio calls for virtual meetings. Recipients will also have the option to accept or decline invitations.
