WhatsApp appears poised to launch its Events feature for personal chats in the near future. The messaging service, owned by Meta, initially introduced this feature within WhatsApp Communities in May 2024. Current reports indicate that the company is now testing the functionality in one-on-one chats, available to users on both Android and iOS platforms. A wider release to global users could take place within days.
Events Feature in Individual WhatsApp Chats for Android, iOS Users
According to a report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is refining a feature that permits users to create and share events directly within individual chats. At this stage, the capability is limited to group chats and Communities. The ongoing tests involve beta users with Android version 2.25.3.6 and iOS version 25.2.10.73.
Some beta participants have already begun accessing the event scheduling feature, which is gradually being made available to additional users. This update follows a previous workaround where users needed to form two-person groups to arrange events. Now, users can easily organize events through their personal chat windows.
This new addition enables WhatsApp users to schedule and oversee events within private conversations. By consolidating all relevant information into a single message, the feature minimizes lengthy exchanges.
WhatsApp users can leverage the events feature for a variety of personal and professional uses. This includes planning casual meetups, booking medical appointments, organizing business consultations, and setting payment reminders. Users have the ability to specify locations for in-person gatherings or include audio/video call links for virtual meetings when an event is created. Invitation recipients can choose to accept or decline as well.
