WhatsApp for Android may soon introduce a feature that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to suggest topics for users to discuss with Meta AI. A recent report indicates that the messaging service is developing a function aimed at providing users with topics that can facilitate conversations with the AI chatbot. These topics are expected to encompass a range of areas, such as educational content, humor, and various conversational styles that the chatbot can adopt. This feature is anticipated to be part of a broader redesign of the Meta AI interface within the app, which has been the subject of prior development rumors.
According to WABetaInfo, a platform that tracks WhatsApp features, the instant messaging application is currently working on an AI-driven topic suggestion feature for Meta AI. This development was uncovered in the latest beta version for Android, 2.25.10.9. However, as this feature remains in the early stages of development, beta testers cannot access it yet.
Screenshots shared by WABetaInfo reveal that the Meta AI chat interface showcases a selection of suggested topics organized into several categories. Positioned at the top is the Meta AI logo, followed by a compilation of topics. The images indicate that this feature is part of the anticipated redesigned chatbot interface yet to be officially launched. Among the categories displayed are “Humour,” “Talk like a…,” and “Learn.”
Earlier reports have suggested that the new Meta AI interface will incorporate a two-way voice chat feature, which is also expected in the redesign. This means users can start a voice conversation with the AI on their chosen topic right away. This particular functionality could be especially beneficial for the “Talk like a…” category, allowing for quick engagement. Furthermore, users will have the option to continue chatting with the AI in text format by concluding the voice session.
According to the feature tracker, these suggested topics will be updated regularly by the AI based on real-world trends and other relevant factors. Importantly, it has been noted that Meta AI does not retain information from previous conversations, and the topics provided remain largely general. Additionally, WhatsApp is exploring the inclusion of other categories to enhance the list. The timeline for when this feature will roll out to users remains unspecified.
