WhatsApp has initiated the rollout of a new feature to its beta testers, enabling users to share sticker packs installed on their devices. This update comes a month after it was first observed, offering users with the latest beta versions of WhatsApp on both iOS and Android the capability to select a sticker pack and share it with another user, allowing the recipient to install the same pack on their phone. Additionally, WhatsApp is allowing a subset of testers to include a message when forwarding content through the platform.
WhatsApp Sticker Sharing Feature Utilizes Links
Upon updating to WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.25.2 or WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.24.10.72, available through the Google Play beta program and TestFlight, respectively, beta testers can access the new feature in the sticker section of the messaging app. These updates were highlighted by the feature tracking service WABetaInfo.
While navigating through installed sticker packs in WhatsApp, beta testers will notice a new three-dot button. When clicked, this button reveals two options: Send and Remove. Choosing to share a sticker pack prompts WhatsApp to create a link for that pack, enabling users to select a recipient before hitting the send button.
Currently, sharing entire sticker packs appears to be confined to those available within WhatsApp. Screenshots illustrating the sharing feature were shared by the tracker while showcasing the built-in ‘Cuppy’ sticker pack.
In addition to the sticker sharing functionality, another new feature in the latest beta, WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.25.3, allows users to add a message when forwarding content. A screenshot released by the tracking service displays a new message field that appears after users select contacts while forwarding media.
As of now, Gadgets 360 has not been able to test these features on the specified versions of WhatsApp beta for Android or on any subsequent releases, including the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.25.12 that was made available to testers recently. This indicates the features are being rolled out incrementally.
