Pugsly joins his big sister at Nevermore in Wednesday’s Season 2.

Netflix’s hit series Wednesday, conceived by Tim Burton, captured audiences’ attention in 2022. Following its swift renewal, fans faced a prolonged anticipation for the second season. That wait is soon coming to an end as the first half of Season 2 is set to premiere next month, complemented by the release of an extensive trailer that hints at more thrilling supernatural enigmas for the beloved pig-tailed goth protagonist to tackle.

(Note: Spoilers for Season 1 ahead.)

Season 1 chronicled Wednesday’s (Jenna Ortega) experiences as she navigated her role as a freshman at Nevermore Academy. With her characteristic aloofness, biting sarcasm, and fierce independence, she earned her reputation as a difficult student—a badge that comes with being expelled from eight schools over five years. Her arrival at Nevermore provided a refuge for her and other “outcasts,” as it was also her parents’ alma mater.

Initially struggling to adapt, Wednesday had several confrontations with her cheerful werewolf roommate, Enid (Emma Myers), and the school’s reigning queen bee, a siren named Bianca (Joy Sunday). Her journey soon shifted into darker territories as she investigated a series of grisly murders, uncovering long-standing family issues and diving into the academy’s hidden history.

The main cast returns for Season 2, featuring Ortega, Myers, and Sunday. The ensemble also includes Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones reprising their roles as Gomez and Morticia Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester. Other returning characters include Moosa Mostafa as the enthusiastic bee lover Eugene, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Ritchie Santiago, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin—revealed as a murderer in the Season 1 finale—and Jamie McShane as Donovan Galpin, the Jericho sheriff and Tyler’s father.

It’s a family affair for Wednesday’s second year at Nevermore Academy.

Morticia is determined to ensure that history does not repeat itself.

The series welcomes Joanna Lumley as Hester Frump, Morticia’s mother, along with several new cast additions, including Billie Piper, Steve Buscemi as Nevermore’s new principal, Barry Dort, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Tyler. Rumors also suggest a special guest appearance by Lady Gaga.

Earlier this year, Netflix unveiled an extended teaser, showcasing Wednesday’s return to Nevermore—a notable moment, as it’s her first voluntary return to any school, according to Morticia. In her signature dry wit, Wednesday remarked that it felt akin to “returning to the scene of the crime; I already know where the bodies are buried.” The full trailer begins in a similar vein but quickly reveals Wednesday’s new celebrity status on campus, complete with an entourage of eager fangirls, attributed to her heroic actions in Season 1. Even the new principal refers to her as the “savior of Nevermore.”

However, Wednesday’s notoriety soon takes a dark turn when she experiences a haunting vision, manifesting as black liquid streaming from her eyes: her dear friend Enid is fated to meet an untimely demise, and it will be Wednesday’s doing. Once again, the fixation shifts to uncovering the past—specifically her parents’ history—illustrated by Morticia’s promise to prevent the repetition of past mistakes. The montage showcases lavishly dark scenes from Season 2, teasing a mix of both new and returning characters and… zombies? Also featured is the implication that Tyler the Hyde will break free from captivity at some point.

Season 2 of Wednesday is scheduled for release in two parts, with Part 1 debuting on August 6, 2025, and Part 2 following on September 3, 2025.
