Jenna Ortega returns as the lead in Season 2 of Netflix’s Wednesday.
The wait has finally come to an end as Netflix prepares to launch the much-anticipated second season of its supernatural horror comedy, Wednesday. The streaming platform has released a teaser alongside a selection of first-look images, providing fans a glimpse into what is expected to be an exciting continuation of the beloved series.
(Spoilers for Season 1 follow.)
The portrayal of Wednesday Addams in this series, played by Jenna Ortega, diverges from the more whimsical version inhabited by Christina Ricci in the 1990s. This version of Wednesday is much older, edgier, and darker—a true outlier even among her eccentric family, having been expelled from eight institutions within five years. This leads her to enroll at Nevermore Academy, a refuge for outcasts that also happens to be her parents’ alma mater.
Initially struggling to find her place, Wednesday finds herself at odds with her upbeat werewolf roommate, Enid (Emma Myers), and the school’s popular siren, Bianca (Joy Sunday). Her journey takes a darker turn as she investigates a series of chilling murders that not only force her to confront unresolved family matters but also delve into the ominous history of the academy. The blend of murder mystery and Burton-esque storytelling culminates in an engaging narrative that plays out over eight episodes.
The Addams family is set to return for another season.
Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) is set to make his debut at Nevermore this season.
Emma Myers will reprise her role as Wednesday’s roommate and best friend, Enid.
Wednesday will continue to rely on her loyal companion, Thing.
Fred Armisen will also return to reprise his role as Uncle Fester.
Tyler (Hunter Doohan) will return after being revealed as a murderous Hyde in the Season 1 finale.
Joanna Lumley will take on the role of Hester Frump, Morticia’s mother.
The majority of the original cast is returning for the second season, including Ortega, Myers, and Sunday. Luis Guzman and Catherine Zeta-Jones will also reprise their roles as Gomez and Morticia Addams. Other returning cast members include Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Ritchie Santiago, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, and Jamie McShane as Jericho’s sheriff and Tyler’s father, Donovan Galpin (McShane will appear as a guest this season).
While Principal Larissa Weems, played by Gwendoline Christie, and Christina Ricci’s character, the devious botany teacher Marilyn Thornhill, will not return, fans can look forward to the introduction of Joanna Lumley as Hester Frump. Exciting new additions to the cast also include Billie Piper, Steve Buscemi, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Tyler, with a special guest appearance by Lady Gaga. Xavier (Percy Hynes White), Wednesday’s love interest from Season 1, will not be returning for this season, but hopefully, enthusiasts will witness more of the lovable bee enthusiast Eugene (Moosa Mostafa).
The second season of Wednesday will premiere on Netflix in two parts, with Part 1 launching on August 6, 2025, followed by Part 2 on September 3, 2025.
